Oscar Update!

April 25, 2017

Believe it or not, my puppy is a big boy. We all made it through in one piece. Oscar is 10 months old now and weighing in at a whopping nine and a half pounds. He’s yuge. He’s also adorable, sweet, cuddly, tough and curious. Pretty much the best dog in the whole world. Oscar10Months1Oscar10Months9
Raising an 8-week old puppy is no walk in the park. There were many hours spent crying, missing my life without responsibility, wishing my fingers weren’t chew-toys and disliking the fact I had to take him outside every hour to potty. But in hindsight, it was worth every struggle. I couldn’t love Oscar more if I tried. He is so smart and loving. Watching him grow and learn has brought such joy to my life.

If I can give any advice for new puppy parents it would be to go to training classes as soon as you can. You can find some really affordable options that last for 5 or 6 weeks and have different levels based on age. I am so glad we did this with Oscar. Not only was it a great bonding experience, but you’d be surprised how much puppies learn that early. We spent time introducing him to sounds and textures that might scare a little puppy. It’s also great for socialization with other dogs. Mitch and I learned some great techniques to continue training at home which has been a lot of fun. Plus we had this pooch potty trained by 13 weeks!

I’d like to end this post by saying dogs are great and you need one. Go check out your local shelter and bring yourself home a pooch! Also, if you’re considering having kids…… try the puppy first. Great training……

Do you already have a sweet little doggie? Tell us all about your special pup in the comments!

April Favorites

April 12, 2017

I’m so excited it’s April! Trees are starting to bloom, everything is green and lush, my tulips have already been eaten by rabbits, LIFE IS GREAT! Plus it’s my birthday month so I’ve already started celebrating. Nothing too crazy. I bought myself a bag of candy, took a bath, spent too much time watching TV and started planning my birthday trip to Nashville!

We’ve only been to Nashville once (well maybe twice) while we were passing through on our way to Georgia and then I suppose we went again on our way back. We stopped at Pinewood Social which was so amazing. The decor is incredible and who doesn’t love bowling while they eat delicious southern food! On our way back home we stopped at The Dog of Nashville for bacon wrapped hot dogs and fried Oreo’s. Such a fun time! I can’t wait to go back for a long weekend at the end of the month.

Best Indoor Planters for Minimalists

April 3, 2017

Our favorite Minimalist Planters

I have a confession to make. I can’t stop buying house plants. Seriously, I have so many of them and none of them have planters. It got so bad that I had to make a side trip to our local nursery to buy plastic plant saucers just so I could water them. Lucky for you I put together some of my favorite modern minimalist planters so you don’t get stuck in my situation.

I’ll admit, I’m a sucker for neutrals but I love to change things up with different textures and materials. Metals and woods can really jazz up an otherwise boring flower pot. Some of my favorite places to look are West Elm, Crate and Barrel, Target and Etsy. You can also check out the options available where you buy your plants, sometimes they will have some really unique selections. While you’re there you should also see if they have any fun classes you can sign up for. Rolling Ridge Nursery near my house has some really cool terrarium making classes that they offer.
