Hello Everyone!! Sorry for being MIA the last week or so! Mitch and I recently expanded our family with a new puppy named Oscar and I am here to tell you all about it!
With that I will say….. puppies are a lot of work. When my 18 year old poodle Spike passed away last year I was absolutely devastated. He had been my dog through a lot of tough times in my life and had always been there for me. He was my best friend. It took awhile to think about the idea of getting another dog and I had some very high expectations. After 18 years I also forgot what puppies are like. I was expecting that we would go pick one out and he would be everything we wanted right away. I forgot about all the work involved and how much it would change our lives. Don’t get me wrong, he is the cutest little pork chop in the whole world and I already love him with all my heart but it’s easy to focus on the fun and exciting reasons you wanted to get a dog in the first place. It’s easier to forget about the 3am potty breaks and nighttime puppy cries, the constant chewing of fingers and shoes, the “accidents” on the carpet, the heartache that comes with leaving the house to the sound of sad little whimpers. But as difficult as this time can be it’s comforting to know that it’s just a phase and he’s just a baby trying to learn how to cope with challenges.
I leave you with a couple pictures of our sweet Oscar. I hope this face brings you some happiness on this glorious Friday!
